HAITI STILL NEEDS OUR HELP!
Coordinated by the Hurricane & Disaster Outreach Ministry, the Church of the Open Door has been designated as a certified center and official donation drop-off site by the American Red Cross. In conjunction with the Miami-Dade County Emergency Management Department, we are calling on all members to assist us in providing relief for Haiti.
The APPROVED items we need are: water, tents, bleach, powdered milk, sanitary napkins, flashlights, medical supplies (like Band-Aids, rubbing alcohol, and non-expired medications), paper towels, baby wipes and rash cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, toilet paper and monetary gifts. Please, DO NOT donate CLOTHES or CANNED GOODS.
Volunteers for the Haitian Repatriation Project can still log on to www.miamiredcross.org, click on “Volunteer” and fill-out an application in three easy steps. If you already have an application on file with the American Red Cross, you are ready to join the mission right now!
Current Status Report:
The Haitian relief effort is off and running! These resources are already on their way to help those families in dire need. Supplies continue to roll in, so we will keep collecting over the coming months and load the truck every first Sunday for delivery to Haitian repatriates.
All financial donations are welcome for this effort is being coordinated through the church treasurers. We encourage you to make contributions that will go to either UCC World Services or American Red Cross.
On top of all these efforts, nothing can do more than prayer, so let us please continue to keep Haiti lifted-up.
Thank you, Hattie Willis, Committee Chairperson and Pastor Willis.
